“We handcraft them because I want them a little higher,” Sherman said. “I didn’t want to thread the tiger tale. So we used silk and tied between the sections so they were threaded and tight. The larger beads start to stretch, so when tied in sections, you don’t get as much pull in space. Because I want my customers to have these pieces for a long time.
SARDA uses only the highest quality materials in its jewelry, including precious metals and gemstones such as aquamarine, black diamond, and green apatite. The use of unrivaled stones was important to Janyl to reflect the natural beauty of the people of bali and their culture.
“People thought I was crazy about what I was looking for,” she said. “It was kind of like a treasure hunt. And we had to get rid of a lot of poor quality pearls to find the good stuff.”
