A mix of art and design, Venusia by Elena Salmistraro jewelry collection for Alessi is an exploration of textures, colors and geometries that are all enhanced by Italian craftsmanship. The name “Venusia” is an interpretation of Venus, the goddess of beauty. Jewelry can act as decorative elements that shield and protect the wearer, whether through religion, ritual, or personal aesthetics. The designer led with this age-old thought.
Salmistraro created Venusia through what she calls the exploration of five “expressive threads” – Acta, Freesia, Edone, Trama and Lorica. This was followed by experiments with metallic processes, from laser cutting to Etruscan granulation. Primitive touches sit alongside modern Venusia designs, providing the wearer with an original piece of exquisite detail. The resulting rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings highlight the qualities of metals through their interaction with light, which captures detail. The jewels are made of stainless steel, are hypoallergenic and embellished with gold and black PVD finishes.
