Ammon News – Exports from Amman’s industrial enterprises operating in the jewelry sector amounted to JD 180 million during the period January-March 2022.
During the first quarter, the United States was the main destination for jewelry exports supervised by the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI), with a value of around 158 million JD, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 7 million JD, then from Italy by 4 million JD.
ICA President Fathi Jaghbir said the increase in jewelry exports from Amman is a “positive” indication that Jordanian industry has started to diversify its export products, taking advantage of their “high quality and competitiveness”.
In a statement to ‘Petra’ on Saturday, he stressed the need to maximize the industrial sector’s benefit from Jordan’s trade agreements with many global economic blocs, which would help diversify the base of goods exported abroad. .
To date, the number of ACI-registered companies operating in the jewelry industry stands at 126, which has provided 1,601 job opportunities, according to chamber data.
In addition, ICA’s total exports to various countries around the world increased by 57 percent in the first quarter of 2022 to JD2.216 billion from JD1.416 billion in the same period last year, according to the data.
